Sending Center Update
The All Nations Sending Center was a dream that we had over a year and a half ago, and the owner of the home gave us a chance to try to make that dream a reality. During the past year we saw many lives changed through retreats and other events at the home. It was indeed a wonderful year, but it became clear to us that the The Sending Center was not in God's long-term plan.
The All Nations board of directors has decided to close the Sending Center and focus our efforts and resources on equipping churches to multiply disciples on college campuses.
It has been encouraging to have a handful of people say: "I love the vision of The Sending Center! Maybe it just wasn't the right time and place."
May the Lord accomplish his purposes in us and through us!
Thank you for joining us in this journey!
Oh how I thank the Lord for Daniel! Several years ago I met Daniel while doing ministry at Columbia College in Sonora. After discipling Daniel for a few months on campus at Columbia College, he was passionate about making disciples as well! Soon he was leading a Bible study on campus and actively sharing his faith at Columbia College.
Then he transferred to Cabrillo College near Santa Cruz. And guess what! Daniel started a CRU movement there at Cabrillo College. There are now a few Bible studies at Cabrillo College… and students are sharing their faith on campus!
And then Daniel transferred to CSU Monterey…. where there was already a CRU movement. And guess what! Daniel quickly became involved and continues to do evangelism on campus at CSU Monterey. He also loves training other students in doing evangelism.
Daniel and several of the CRU students at Cabrillo College are a part of a church college group in Scotts Valley, and we had the privilege of hosting them for their winter retreat last weekend. Highlights for me:
I am also so thankful for the opportunity to get to know pastor Ron! We plan to grab a meal together next time I am in the Santa Cruz area. I look forward to how the Lord will continue to grow our partnership with this church in Scotts Valley to make disciples at Cabrillo College and beyond.
There is a thriving CRU movement at UC Davis! We have become good friends with the CRU staff, and we had the privilege just a few weekends ago to host a men’s retreat for the CRU UC Davis young men.
It was wonderful to see these students who love the Lord have the opportunity to get away and grow in their community with each other and their commitment to the Gospel on their campus at UC Davis.
Think of the impact that these young men can have on their campus for the Gospel!
Think of the impact that these young men will have in the span of their lives as they give themselves to THE MISSION of MAKING DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS.
We are so thankful for the small part we get to play in investing in them and equipping them to be disciple-makers for the rest of their lives, wherever the Lord may leave them.
What a joy it was to host another retreat for this SF State CRU leadership team! We were able to provide for them a weekend get-away up in Twain Harte so that they could relax, pray and plan... getting ready for another semester of spreading the Gospel and making disciples at SF State.
We got to host our own CRU staff team up at the Sending Center!
Our staff team is based in Fresno, but we oversee campuses from Las Vegas to Monterey, and from Bakersfield to just below Sacramento.
There are seven of us.... focusing on equipping disciple-makers to reach about 50 campuses.
What a privilege to be on this team! What a privilege to host our own retreat so that we can get away... continue to build community as a team... and strategize how we can continue to expand the Kingdom on all of these college campuses.
Praise the Lord for this team and the work for the Kingdom that we get to do together!
We had another retreat up at the Sending Center last weekend! What an amazing time. We absolutely LOVE hosting friends, old and new, for a time of refreshing and renewal. The highlight for me was training these students in how to multiply their lives by making disciples. We taught them how to share the Gospel using John 3:16 and how to teach others how to read the Bible by doing One Thing Studies. We also gave them a process by which they can help others to grow in their faith and become disciple-makers themselves. After doing an hour of training and announcing that they had some free time, one of the young women asked: "During free time, can you teach me more? I want to learn more about how to make disciples."
Pray for the Lord to continue to use The Sending Center to equip and send out disciple-makers.
The Sending Center is all about equipping disciple-makers, and that is why we just love doing retreats for college students who are just wanting to get away and plan and dream in preparation for another school year of making disciples on campus.
We just had the privilege of hosing the San Francisco CRU Leadership Retreat; what a wonderful weekend!
The highlight for me was simply getting to spend time with these leaders and hear their heart for making disciples of Jesus at CSU San Francisco. We look forward to hearing how these college students continue to change the world by investing in others with the love of Jesus.
I know, it shouldn’t be called a ‘retreat.’ It should be called an ‘advance!’ We had about 20 Faith Bible Church students from Merced (UC Merced and Merced College) come up Memorial Day weekend to The Sending Center. The focus of the weekend was spiritual renewal / disciple-making. It was fabulous.
The highlight for me was sharing with these students about how simple and effective it can be for them to share the Gospel on campus and disciple other students. We taught them some very simple tools to discover spiritual interest on campus…. and some very simple tools to follow up with interested students (a very simple way to read the Bible, for example). Many of these young men and women are looking forward to having us come on campus with them this fall to show them how to do spiritual surveys. We cannot wait to see the Lord build a movement of disciple-makers at UC Merced and Merced College!
Please pray for UC Merced and Merced College… that the Lord would raise up students to reach these campuses with the Gospel!
About six months ago, as we were having our All Nations staff meeting, we began asking ourselves the question:
How can we be MOST effective in multiplying disciples?
How can we most fruitfully invest in young people and equip them to be life-long disicple-makers?
We concluded that the best way to make disciples is to follow Jesus’ example; so our next question was:
So how did Jesus do it? How did Jesus make disciples?
Jesus invested in a small number of men. He invested his life in them: life-on-life discipleship.
And then they changed the world.
We wondered together: How can we be most like Jesus? How can we make disciples like Jesus made disciples? We want to change the world! So let’s follow Jesus’ example and let him take care of the rest.
And thus was born the vision for The Sending Center.
Fast-forward six months (and there is quite a story in there.... we will share more of the amazing story soon), and we JUST SIGNED THE LEASE FOR THE SENDING CENTER HOUSE!
We are already moving stuff in and getting the house ready for student interns. We are convinced that the Lord is going to change many lives through this ministry. We dream of hundreds of students being equipped to make disciples (life-on-life disciple-making) and sent out all over the world. We would love for you to be a part of making The Sending Center a GREAT success. Here are some ways you can be involved:
The Yorks are passionate about bringing the Gospel to the nations - especially the unreached of the world (those who have no access to the Gospel). They are convinced that the greatest impact they can have in reaching the unreached is by multiplying disciples on college campuses and equipping churches to be missional disciple-makers.
