I spent last week in Southern California; here are the highlights:
Pray with us for more churches and pastors and believers to experience how fruitful and enjoyable it is to multiply disciples on the college campus.
The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. -Jesus (Luke 10:2)
A few weeks ago I was in Southern California for five days developing partnerships with local pastors to reach community college campuses with the Gospel. I met with five pastors to share with them how they could reach their nearby community college campus. All five of them want to move forward in partnership with us to make disciples on campus! The next step is going on campus with each of them to do evangelism.
Bottom Left: Me with Jamie and Charlotte Flores, missionaries with PAIS, a ministry that focuses on partnering with churches to reach their communities with the Gospel. I cannot wait to see how the Lord continues to build our frienship and partnership in the Gospel.
Bottom Middle: Me, Pastor John, and Johnathan (CRU staff) after meeting over coffee to discuss how Pastor John could start a discipleship movement on campus at Fullerton College. Pray for John! Pray that the Lord would give him a very fruitful ministry on campus at Fullerton College.
Bottom Right: Me and Jonathan (CRU staff) with Pastor Clarke from a church near Irvine Valley College. Pray for the Lord to bless Clarke and use him to reach Irvine Valley College with the Gospel! Pray for us to be a great help to him in making disciples on campus.
One of the coolest things about my job is that I get to meet with other CRU (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) staff and strategize how to reach many campuses with so few resources; most of the CRU staff in southern CA have half a dozen or more campuses in their scope but simply don't have the time to invest time on those campuses. Many of those campuses are community colleges.
I get the privilege of helping them to connect with local churches, and then I get to help them equip those local churches to reach the campus near them.
When I was in Southern California a few weeks ago, I got to meet with three CRU staff who oversee 11 community college campuses between the three of them. I even got to go on campus with one of them (picture above) to do some spiritual surveys. I cannot wait to help them equip local churches!
Pray for these 11 campuses! Pray that the Lord would continue to connect me and these 3 CRU staff with local churches who would want to learn how to make disciples on their nearby community college campus: Irvine Valley College, Orange Coast College, Saddleback College, Cerritos College, Cypress College, Long Beach City College, Mt. San Antonio College, Rio Hondo College, Fullerton College, Pasadena City College.
The Yorks are passionate about bringing the Gospel to the nations - especially the unreached of the world (those who have no access to the Gospel). They are convinced that the greatest impact they can have in reaching the unreached is by multiplying disciples on college campuses and equipping churches to be missional disciple-makers.
