“Will you teach me how to share my faith?”
I love those days when the Lord reminds me, “This is exactly what I created you for!” This past Wednesday I got to experience one of those days. I had the privilege of spending the day in Bakersfield. Here is a summary of what happened:
“Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave… so you could have life!”
What a joy it was to be on campus at Modesto Junior College yesterday sharing with students the totally life-changing reality of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Above is a picture of Chinh (a very good friend of mine and the college pastor at a nearby church). Chinh and I have been going on campus weekly to Modesto Junior College to talk with students, looking for those who are interested in hearing the good news about Jesus and even meeting up to study the Bible. One of the students we met yesterday was Chris. Chinh shared the Gospel with Chris and taught him how to do a One Thing Study. Chris is not connected to a church, but he is very interested in knowing more about a real faith in Jesus. They exchanged contact information; it looks like they will be meeting up again to read the Bible together. Pray for God to work in Chris’s heart and give him a growing hunger for Him. Pray for Chinh, that the Lord would bless him with a few students on campus at MJC to disciple.
Thank you for sending me to invest in pastors like Chinh! There are believers like Chinh near every college campus, and I want to find them. And there are students like Chris on every college campus… and I want to equip Christians to disciple them.
In the picture to the left you’ll see Silas (left) sharing the Gospel with a student at Bakersfield College. I am so thankful that the Lord connected me to Silas! Silas is the pastor of young adults at a church in Bakersfield. Almost two months ago, I had the opportunity to meet Silas and share with him about how he could make disciples on campus at Bakersfield College. There was no active disciple-making ministry at Bakersfield College a month ago. Now there is! I made the 4-hour drive down to Bakersfield a few times to train Silas in evangelism and disciple-making on campus. A few weeks ago, he said “I’ve got it!” And he does! He is now committed to being on campus every week to disciple students and equip them to share their faith and make disciples as well. I look forward to the continued friendship and partnership in the Gospel with Silas. Thank you for sending me to the Silases
PRAY WITH US FOR MORE SILASES!
Our strategy is to find a local church near every one of the 113 community colleges in CA to own the mission of starting a discipleship movement on campus.
Sending Center Update
The All Nations Sending Center was a dream that we had over a year and a half ago, and the owner of the home gave us a chance to try to make that dream a reality. During the past year we saw many lives changed through retreats and other events at the home. It was indeed a wonderful year, but it became clear to us that the The Sending Center was not in God's long-term plan.
The All Nations board of directors has decided to close the Sending Center and focus our efforts and resources on equipping churches to multiply disciples on college campuses.
It has been encouraging to have a handful of people say: "I love the vision of The Sending Center! Maybe it just wasn't the right time and place."
May the Lord accomplish his purposes in us and through us!
Thank you for joining us in this journey!
The Yorks are passionate about bringing the Gospel to the nations - especially the unreached of the world (those who have no access to the Gospel). They are convinced that the greatest impact they can have in reaching the unreached is by multiplying disciples on college campuses and equipping churches to be missional disciple-makers.
