In the past month I've been on campus a few times with Pastor Chinh (pictured with me above). A student-leader of his, Andrew, has joined us too. Each time we've spent a few hours on campus doing spiritual surveys.... sharing the Gospel with students.... and teaching students how to do One Thing Studies..... and inviting them to meet up again to read the Bible.
Good news! Chinh and Andrew enjoyed it so much, and saw so much fruit, that they decided to go on campus every week! And we already connected with a few students who expressed interest in meeting again for Bible study!
And another cool thing: while we were there on campus this past week, we met a few students and a leader from InterVarsity Christian fellowship who were excited (as were we) to see other believers on campus. (You can see us all in the picture below.) They are going to join us in doing evangelism when we go back this week!
Pray with us for spiritual renewal at Modesto Junior College!
Last week we had a large outreach at Merced College and UC Merced! About 50 students came to Merced for a few days during their spring break and hit the campus doing spiritual surveys. Many students heard the Gospel! Two students responded by putting their faith in Christ!
Pray that there would be an ongoing movement at Merced College. Pray for the Lord to raise up a local youth or college pastor to own the mission of reaching the campus with the Gospel.
Last week I was at SF City College again to help Joe (a missionary to the campus) to do some outreach. We talked to three students who were VERY interested Jesus. We shared the Gospel with them and connected them to a weekly Bible study.
Above is Christopher, taking the Soularium picture survey. He is going through some hard stuff these days, and we had the opportunity to pray for him as well. We must have spent an hour or more getting to know him; what a pleasure it was!
Praise the Lord for the spiritual hunger at SF City College! There are so many students on campus who are invested in knowing more about Jesus... or who are believers and are simply longing for a community of Christians who are living out their faith on campus.
Thank you Lord for giving us the opportunity to be a small part of what you are doing at SF City College!
Oh how I thank the Lord for Daniel! Several years ago I met Daniel while doing ministry at Columbia College in Sonora. After discipling Daniel for a few months on campus at Columbia College, he was passionate about making disciples as well! Soon he was leading a Bible study on campus and actively sharing his faith at Columbia College.
Then he transferred to Cabrillo College near Santa Cruz. And guess what! Daniel started a CRU movement there at Cabrillo College. There are now a few Bible studies at Cabrillo College… and students are sharing their faith on campus!
And then Daniel transferred to CSU Monterey…. where there was already a CRU movement. And guess what! Daniel quickly became involved and continues to do evangelism on campus at CSU Monterey. He also loves training other students in doing evangelism.
Daniel and several of the CRU students at Cabrillo College are a part of a church college group in Scotts Valley, and we had the privilege of hosting them for their winter retreat last weekend. Highlights for me:
I am also so thankful for the opportunity to get to know pastor Ron! We plan to grab a meal together next time I am in the Santa Cruz area. I look forward to how the Lord will continue to grow our partnership with this church in Scotts Valley to make disciples at Cabrillo College and beyond.

I'm Famous in Susanville, CA!
Actually, not really; I just got my picture in the paper. But Jesus is famous in Susanville! I had the great privilege of being the speaker at the winter retreat for this church college group; the retreat was held in Portola. I had some crazy winter-storm-driving to get there... but it was SO WORTH IT!
I've been up to Susanville already a few times to help this college group grow in their effectiveness in evangelism and disciple-making at nearby Lassen College.
Highlights of this retreat:
I am part of the CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) staff team based in Fresno. Sherry (above right) is one of the seven on our team. Sherry and I met with a few pastors in Bakersfield last week to share how they and their churches could make disciples on campus at Bakersfield College.
They were two wonderful meetings! Silas (above middle) is one of those college pastors. I will be going down to Bakersfield later this week to go on campus and do spiritual surveys with Silas. How exciting to see the beginning of a movement at Bakersfield College!
The Yorks are passionate about bringing the Gospel to the nations - especially the unreached of the world (those who have no access to the Gospel). They are convinced that the greatest impact they can have in reaching the unreached is by multiplying disciples on college campuses and equipping churches to be missional disciple-makers.
